Business & Society: Value Creation through Analytics

Why Value Creation through Analytics?

Data Analytics has been around for a long time. However, recent developments in technology have brought it to the next level. In today’s business environment data comes from many different sources (e.g. social media, mobile devices), in many different formats (e.g. text, pictures), and with much higher frequency than in the past (e.g. orders and trades in stock markets around the world are recorded at a micro-second level). Consequently, the volume of data collected, processed and stored by organisations has been growing exponentially (i.e. Big Data), and new analytics and data management techniques have been developed in order to handle and extract intelligence from such large volume of information.

Organisations demand rapid, preferably real-time, responses for many different business functions. Even at a first glance, it is evident the revolution that data analytics has brought in to the current business environment, and the value that it is creating not only for business organisations, but for the society in general. Despite some shortcomings linked to the extensive data collection (e.g., privacy violation, cyber-attacks, surveillance, and digital divide), the adoption and the power of data analytics is still on the increase and it is expected to continue on this trend in the foreseeable future.

In such a context it is important for academics and practitioners to come together to share the most recent developments, lead the innovation and limit potential harms for the benefit of the overall society.

About Chetana’s

Chetana’s R K Institute of Management & Research was founded in 1981 by ardent   Gandhian   follower   and   founder   President   of   Chetana   Trust, Late Shri Madhukarrao Chaudhari. Chetana’s Institute of Management and Research (CIMR) was established in the year 1996 with the dual objective of providing quality education and infusing students with dynamism.  Nearly two decades ago, our founder Chairman, Shri. Madhukarrao Chaudhari, in his wisdom and far sightedness, saw many opportunities to be seized by our country as the hub of economic growth. He strongly believed that business education was a valuable investment in a person’s future and the development of any organization significantly depends on Research & Development.

Keeping this as a way of philosophy and holistic approach in mind, we are trying to put our energy and intellectual power towards achieving educational excellence. CRKIMR is the second oldest Institute affiliated to Mumbai University and CIMR is imparting management education for the last two decades and more. As a part of the journey of academia, Chetana has been organizing National as well as International Conferences on various themes keeping the societal interest at the bottom of heart and mind.
